Multiple Accomplisments from Graduate Student Themal Ellawala

Recently, UIC Anthropology PhD student Themal Ellawala has had two articles accepted for publication, won a fellowship, and was interviewed for a special series on Indian marriage equality. Themal's articles are "Revisiting Austerity: Queer Aesthetics and Moral Disciplining" in Frontiers: A Journal of Women's Studies (accepted) and "Indeterminacies: Queer Tales of Love and Suffering" in Feminist Review (2023). Themal was awarded the 2024 Sarah Petit Fellowship for participating in a dissertation workshop at Yale University. Furthermore, Themal was interviewed as part of Queering the (Court)Room, the Socio-Legal Review's Special Series on the Indian Marriage Equality Debate. The interview is titled "Of Shared Struggles Beyond the Water: A Sri Lankan Perspective with Themal Ellawala."
