OBITUARY – Emeritus Professor Jim Phillips

We regret to report that UIC Anthropology Emeritus Professor Dr. Jim Phillips passed away on February 9. A proud North Side Chicagoan, Dr. Phillips was a Professor at UIC until he retired and became an Adjunct Curator at the Field Museum. Although he was best known for his research in Near Eastern archaeology, having run several archaeological projects in Israel and Egypt throughout his career, he also worked extensively in North America. He is remembered as a wonderful story teller and a found of knowledge about the history of archaeology, anthropology, and the city of Chicago, which he loved so dearly. He will be missed. Please see below for Dr. Phillips' obituary, which includes information about funeral services and memorials made in his honor.
