Writing Resources and Guides

Everyone needs help with writing - regardless of your skillset! Different types of documents require different skills and working with someone one-on-one or utilizing an online resource may help you in meeting your writing needs. This is by no means a comprehensive list, but rather a place to begin!

UIC Writing Center - Get individual support for your writing at the UIC Writing Center! You can work on any writing — research, personal statements, lab reports, memos, class assignments, or applications. Come with a draft or with no writing at all and we’ll help you get started. Stop by 105 Grant Hall or call us at 312-413-2206 to find out more.

Purdue OWL - The Online Writing Lab (OWL) at Purdue University houses writing resources and instructional material, and we provide these as a free service of the Writing Lab at Purdue. Students, members of the community, and users worldwide will find information to assist with many writing projects. Teachers and trainers may use this material for in-class and out-of-class instruction.

Online Writing Resources for Students - College students will write many academic essays throughout the course of their education, which helps to inform them about specific topics and sharpen the writing skills they need. This guide provides information on the types of essays they may be required to write, how to conduct research and strategies for effective proofreading.
