As the semester draws to an end, we want to inform everyone of the incredible honors some of our graduate students have received this week.
Award for Graduate Research: PhD student Sravanthi Dasari was awarded funding to facilitate fieldwork on her project "Reimagining India’s Independence: The Telangana Armed Struggle and its Revisionist Role in History."
Dean's Scholar Fellowship: PhD student Aldo Foe was awarded a fellowship for the 2024-2025 year to finish writing his dissertation "Nagara and the Masjid: Mosque Construction and the Political Economy of Islamization in Early Modern Period (EMP) Indonesia, 15th-19th C"
Charles A. Reed Award: PhD students Sravanthi Dasari, Do Yeon Shin, and Simone-Jeannelle Sisk
Dorner Graduate Student Scholarship: MA student Lukas Kerbyson
Joshua J. Terry Graduate Award: PhD student Sonia Saxon
Rothschild Scholarship Fund: PhD students Danielle Silverman and Ashley Vance
UIC Department of Anthropology Graduate Teaching Award: PhD students Sarah Shepherd-Manandhar and Dipti Sherchan won this faculty-nominated award for demonstrated excellence in teaching and student support; contributions to instructional materials and pedagogy; support for the instructor and fellow TAs; support for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom and workplace; and collegiality and professionalism
Graduate Employees Organization: PhD student Simone Sisk has been elected as Co-President and PhD student Luis Gómez Ordóñez has been elected to be part of the GEO's delegation to the AFT Union Convention this year.
