About
Hello, everyone! My name is Yazmin, I joined UIC in 2018 where I began as a general advisor in the College of LAS. I transitioned into my current departmental/major advising role in May of 2021.
In addition to advising, I have been an Instructor for LAS 110 seminars, work with the Latin American Recruitment and Educational Services Program (LARES) and am a part of both LAS and external UIC professional committees. I grew up in a western Chicago suburb and attended Eastern Illinois University for both my Bachelor of Arts (Sociology - Psychology minor) and Master of Science (College Student Counseling and Personnel Services) degrees. I especially enjoy helping my students see and achieve their full potentials while supporting them as they navigate their way through their college experiences. Fun facts: I studied abroad in Italy, was a first-generation college student, am a plant mom to over 20+ plants, and enjoy all sorts of live music. Thank you for making this job amazing, can’t wait to meet with you!
