Student Accommodations Heading link

UIC is committed to full inclusion and participation with disabilities in all aspects of university life. If you face or anticipate disability-related barriers while at UIC, please connect with the Disability Resource Center (DRC) to create a plan for accommodations.

Students who are pregnant, have recently given birth, are parents, or who have experienced domestic and/or sexual violence may contact the UIC Title IX Coordinator (titleIX@uic.edu) for accommodations in their coursework.

Academic Help Heading link

The Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) can help if you feel you need individualized instruction in reading, writing, study skills, time management, etc. They also offer tutoring services.

If you need help finding library resources, a good place to start is the Anthropology Research Guide, curated by anthropology librarian Jeff Wheeler. The guide has links to all of the major anthropology resources and databases. If you need additional help, you can contact Jeff Wheeler for personalized assistance.

Mental Health Resources Heading link

Counseling services are available for all UIC students. You may see free and confidential services from the Counseling Center. In addition to offering individual counseling services, peer support groups, and self-care workshops, the Counseling Center also operates a 24/7 crisis support line at 312-996-3490. Tell the receptionist you are experiencing a mental health crisis or select option 2 if you call after normal business hours.

988 has replaced the National Suicide Hotline and is available 24/7. When  you call, the operator will get you the help you need by connecting you to a trained counselor who can help you develop a plan to stay alive. If you need in-person support, the counselor will get you connected to that care. You can call or text 988 or use one of their live chat options below.

Housing and Food Resources Heading link

The Office of the Dean of Students provides support for housing- and food-insecure students and also welcomes applications for the U & I Care Emergency Fund. This fund can assist students with medical bills, safety needs, rent, and loss of income.

The UIC Wellness Center provides access to many indispensable resources for food- and housing-insecure students, in addition to running a Pop-Up Pantry.
