About
As a Ph.D. Candidate in Anthropological Archaeology at the University of Illinois Chicago, my research delves into the Coastal Inka Empire’s expansion and its influence on local agricultural practices and long-distance exchange. Focusing on how Inka statecraft reshaped resource use and facilitated highland-coastal interactions, I explore the complex relationships between imperial and local practices in ancient Peru. With over a decade of Andean field experience and work at the Field Museum, I combine scientific analysis with a focus on indigenous identity to uncover the nuanced ways in which the Inka empire shaped—and was shaped by—local cultures.
